Quarry Lake
Membership Information
Invitation to Join
We invite you to join
the Shakopee - Prior Lake Shockwaves (Shockwaves) and use Quarry Lake.
Our Club is open to all who love skiing and boarding, regardless of
ability, even if you’ve never skied or boarded before or would just
prefer to watch from shore. Our Club is home to the Shockwaves Water-ski
Show Team, and also to a number of top regional and national tournament
competitors, who train and compete on a regular basis throughout the
season.
How Does Quarry Lake
Membership Work?
- Becoming a
Quarry Lake member entitles you and your ski party to the private use
of Quarry Lake during a scheduled time-slot once per week --
for example, every Wednesday from 9:00am – 11:00am, or every Saturday
morning from Sunrise to 9:00am.
- Becoming a
Quarry Lake Member is a great value. Quarry Lake Memberships cost
between $325 and $675 per time slot per year, and the average Membership
is about $400. The membership cost varies according to the desirability
of the time slot. For example, the Tuesday morning Sunrise-to-9:00am
Quarry Lake membership would cost $625, whereas the Tuesday 9:00am –
11:00pm Quarry Lake membership would cost $325 and the Sunday Sunrise
– 9:00am time slot would cost $450. To see a full schedule
of membership time-slots and fees, please see “Quarry Lake Schedule
and Fee Information” tab on the Quarry Lake Welcome page of this web-site.
- The Quarry
Lake member may invite any other active Shockwaves member to ski or
board with him/her during that selected time-slot, (including of course
the member’s family). A Quarry Lake membership and slot is a
great way to spend quality training time or quality family time.
- A Quarry Lake
member may buy more than one membership and time-slot, and may share
slots with other Quarry lake members. For example, one member
buys the Monday morning membership, and another member buys the Wednesday
morning membership. The two may agree to share the slots, each
skiing both on Monday and Wednesday morning.
- The actual
cost of the Quarry Lake membership may also be shared in private transactions
behind the scenes, perhaps between 2 to 3 additional members, who would
then train together at that designated time slot each week. The Shockwaves
will not be involved in those transactions, except for requiring that
the Quarry Lake member not gain from, profit from, or sub-lease his/her
membership time slot. The Club will hold
one person -- the applicant --
accountable as the Quarry Lake Member for that designated time slot.
- We offer discounts
for multiple Quarry Lake Memberships and associated time-slots.
We offer a 15% discount for the second Membership/slot, and 25% for
the third and subsequent Membership/slots.
- Memberships
are for the period January 1 to January 1 of the following year, regardless
of when the membership is purchased. We also offer pro-rated memberships
-- if you are reading this during the 2010 skiing season and if there
are still unsold Quarry Lake Memberships/time-slots. Generally,
however, we sell-out prior to the season.
- Each year,
Quarry Lake Members will have the first option to renew their time-slots.
Quarry Lake Requirements
- When multiple
people go-together to purchase a Quarry Lake Membership and time-slot,
the group must designate ONE person as the
“Quarry Lake Member.” This makes it easier for the Club
to administer the rules, since the Quarry Lake Member takes personal
responsibility for the use of the lake during their time slot.
- During Quarry
Lake Membership time-slots, there are no
limits to the number of skiers/boarders per Quarry Lake time slot,
or for the number of passes per skier/boarder. The Quarry Lake member
and his/her skiing party must, however, adhere to the slot time-limits.
- The Quarry
Lake member must provide his/her own tow-boat for use during
that time slot. Member warrants that his/her tow boat will meet
our Quarry Lake Boats/Engines Policy. That policy is described
under the “Quarry Lake Site Rules” tab of this web-site.
- The Quarry
Lake member must pledge adherence to the Club’s rules for the
site, both for him/herself, and for the others who will ski with him/her
during that slot. All members who use the site must sign a waiver of
liability, and be active members of both the Shakopee-Prior Lake Shockwaves
and USA Waterski.
- We are asking
all Shockwaves Members to commit to at least 5 hours of volunteer
labor sometime prior to or during the 2010 season. Our responsibilities
at Quarry Lake are many, and include mowing the lawn, mending the fence,
and maintaining the boat launch and the road into the site. In
addition, we need to install, remove, and maintain the slalom courses,
docks, Ski Jump and perform other general maintenance—not to mention
all the improvements we have in mind.
Many of us are very
busy and may not be able to fulfill our labor obligation. As a
result, for 2010 we are offering a ‘buy-out’ option for those who
do not want to be held accountable for five hours of labor. This
‘buy-out’ is $100 (or $150 family) and is in addition to the SPLWSA
Membership fee. We will use these funds to hire out some of the
work.
- All membership
sales are final.
